Margaret Atwood(1939— )，加拿大当代著名女诗人、作家、评论家、女权主义者，于1962年获得哈佛大学硕士学位。她曾获英国“亚瑟·C·克拉克文学奖”、“布克奖”，西班牙“阿斯图里亚斯王子文学奖”和加拿大“总督奖”。其父亲是自然科学家，经常到森林里研究昆虫，所以Atwood童年的大量时间都在加拿大魁北克省北部偏远地带度过。她的诗灵感大多来自自己童年时代迷上的神话和童话故事。著有Double Persephone(《圆圈游戏》，1967)、The Animals in That Country(《那个国家的动物》，1968)和Procedures for Underground(《地下铁路的手续》，1970)等诗集，及The Edible Woman(《可以吃的女人》，1969)、Cat’s Eye(《猫眼》，1988)和The Robber Bride(《强盗新娘》，1993)等长篇小说。
